As a teenager it dawned on me that I wanted to see more of the world. Once I finished college I picked up my backpack and started traveling. After spending a year in the Middle East, Africa and India I knew this was the life for me. I managed to find a job in Madagascar and never looked back. After a stops in Nagoya, Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo and Muscat, I am now enjoying reconnecting with my roots back in Belgium. I've written some newspaper and travel magazine articles about my trips as well as blogs such as this on about my RD Congo trip.

I am a father of two young boys who make me very happy. Nothing has made me think more deeply about teaching than when Zig and Taavi started coming to school. Knowing their home life helps me to understand what they need from school. Being a dad makes me appreciate the opportunity I have being able to connect with and help other people's children be inspired about learning.
